Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist to record album
Lynyrd Skynyrd plan to record a new album in 2006, but founding guitarist Gary Rossington will have something of his own out before that. Rossington and his wife, Skynyrd backup singer Dale Krantz Rossington, have recorded an album which the guitarist told us is a rootsy and rocking affair: [ click here to listen if you have a Backstage Pass] "It's kind of a rock n' roll rhythm & blues album. Dale, she's singing and screaming and wailing away and singing better than I ever heard her. We're just mixing it now. It should come out next year some time and we can't wait. We're real excited about it."
Rossington said he hasn't selected a title for the CD or a name for the project yet.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13th at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Lynyrd Skynyrd plan new album for 2006
Lynyrd Skynyrd hope to accompany next year's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with a new studio album. Guitarist Gary Rossington told us that he, guitarist Ricky Medlocke and singer Johnny Van Zant have been writing songs, and have every intention of getting some fresh music out in 2006: "Well, there's no title or nothin'. We've been writing, Johnny and Ricky and myself, a lot... We're just putting together a new rock 'n' roll, trying to keep it original, like the old Skynyrd stuff used to be, and just more simple and staying with it and not trying to change too much, just rockin' and rollin' like we do."
The album will be Skynyrds first since 2003's Vicious Cycle.
In addition to the band CD, Rossington and his wife Dale are finishing a new CD of their own that will also be out in 2006.
