Frynds,
I cannot believe how life has conspired against my love of Skynyrd. Most of you know the story. How I found Skynyrd at the age of six and how important the music became in my life.
How for my 10th birthday my big brother told me he was taking me to my first ever rock concert-Skynyrd-as soon as they came to Little Rock. That was October 6th, 1977 we all know what tragedy befell the band three weeks later.
My thyrty year quest to see a Skynyrd (or Rossington-Collins or Rossington Band) concert. How last May I finally had the opportunity and a seizure stopped my heart and prevented me from meeting the band much less seeing the concert.
How last July I'ze given a second chance and did meet the band but missed most of the concert due to another smaller seizure. The medications they had me on had me in such a stupor I don't even recall meeting most of the band.
Now, life has brought the final curtain down upon me. I have tickets (thanks to my good friend Randy) to Skynyrd's May 8, San Diego show.
This is to be my last concert. EVER. My doctors have told me I should not even attend this show. Turns out that flashing and moving lights are a MAJOR trigger for seizures. And since at least two of my seizures have resulted in full cardiac arrest, I am told I should not chance it.
For just over thyrty years I have dearly loved Skynyrd music. I have tried throughout my life to see a live concert. Either I had to work, my kids were sick, or I'ze broke. Or I had a seizure for the first time in my life.
Well, I am going to take my doctors' advice and not see anymore concerts. EXCEPT ONE! This May 8 I will see my beloved Skynyrd in concert and I will stay well for the whole concert. I WILL SEE AND HEAR FREE BIRD LIVE!
Please lend me yer prayers, thoughts, and energy as I attempt one last time to see that Skynyrd concert my big brother promised me almost 31 years ago.
Love to all! Rock on and keep the music alive forever!
Mary
